MerlinOne Joins the EDRM Evergreen Working Group

Quincy, MA, May 20, 2010 - MerlinOne is pleased to announce that it has joined the EDRM Evergreen working group, whose mission is to continually modernize and keep the EDRM framework relevant as the state of the art of electronic discovery evolves.

EDRM - eDiscovery Reference ModelThe 2010 EDRM kickoff meeting last week brought attorneys, area experts and vendors together to work in a non-commercial setting to advance electronic discovery, and make information about it easily available. Working groups include efforts around defining metrics to be used to measure electronic discovery cost and effectiveness, sample datasets to test systems against, data interface standards, and information management systems. The Evergreen group provides in depth information and resources for each node of the EDRM diagram.

The Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) organization sets guidelines and standards for electronic discovery consumers and providers to help reduce the cost, time and manual work associated with electronic discovery. MerlinOne has been in the Digital Asset Management business since 1988 and has participated in the evolution of numerous metadata standards for many digital file types. Our team has worked with leading corporations and government bodies to define and implement best practices for handling digital objects and their metadata, ranging from images and graphics to PDF and Office documents, emails, as well as advanced functionality for video and audio files.

"The EDRM members have done a tremendous job in bringing structure to the process of electronic discovery, and MerlinOne looks forward to applying the many lessons we have learned to contribute to the Evergreen Project's efforts" said David M. Tenenbaum, CEO and founder of MerlinOne.

The MerlinOne Legal system is so versatile and powerful that lawyers and paralegals can use it for early case assessment, e-discovery processing and the organization and management of millions of documents, e-mails, transcripts, photos, graphics, voicemails, and deposition videos. MerlinOne is available as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or an in-house solution.

Merlin has the ability to search multimedia files for spoken words: the system's integrated speech-to-text recognition allows you to search depositions or voicemail messages and automatically cue up the resulting video or audio files right to the location of the spoken phrase. This can save considerable time in the Review and Analysis phases of a case.

Version 2.0 of Merlin's web based interface closely maps to the EDRM Processing, Review, Analysis and Production workflows, and will be unveiled at LegalTech West June 23-24, at booth 329. To assist legal professionals in discovering how much they can save using the MerlinOne Legal system, MerlinOne is currently offering an eDiscovery Price Comparison Kit.
