Quincy, MA, August 10, 2009 - The Christian Science Monitor has converted to the Merlin Hosted Digital Asset Management Solution to organize their local and wire photo content with predictable low-cost monthly payments. The staff at the Christian Science Monitor had been using an in-house Merlin digital asset management system since 1997.
Now thousands of the Christian Science Monitor's photos, pages, cartoons and content from the daily PDF digest and weekly print edition are stored offsite, redundantly in the MerlinOne hosted digital asset management facility. The digital assets are more easily accessible to everyone, and storage costs are no longer a pressing concern.
"As we are storing more images for our various publishing formats, and Merlin is largely the only integrated archive for the Monitor, it is a relief to know that our content – our most valuable asset – is archived in a secure environment and this may be accessed and repurposed by the Monitor staff and other Center colleagues, and we are no longer in the business of acquiring and managing hardware for it," says the Monitor's Archive Administrator.
The Merlin hosted digital asset management system is physically housed in a top-notch co-location facility with high security, generator backups and connections to 4 Internet backbones. MerlinOne provides performance and uptime assurances, fault-tolerance and can include an interface to pre-press production systems. Merlin customer service staff can directly support end-users.
Merlin is a complete digital asset management system that allows users to organize millions of photos and other multimedia files using fast, precise searching with easy and flexible workflows. Access to the Merlin hosted digital asset management solution is via thick or web clients.
