Quincy, MA, August 20, 2007 - Crain Communications Inc., has selected MerlinOne's digital asset management system to handle its text, photo, PDF page and graphic archiving for 30 titles. Once installed, the system will handle literally millions of objects and hundreds of users across the various Crain locations.
"Over the past few years, Crain has been attending publishing trade shows, visiting other publishers and aggressively searching for a new digital asset management system to replace its current, but aging, NewsView Archival System," said Anne Wright Curtis, Crain's newly appointed Corporate Content Director. Curtis also commented, "The MerlinOne system exceeds our current needs and will provide the technology to integrate text, graphic, photo and page archiving into one system. It will support content sharing amongst Crain's 30 publications, allowing writers and editors to go to one place to find and manage all published content."
"MerlinOne will also provide some opportunities for content marketing/sales through third party e-commerce solutions. All of these are important capabilities as Crain moves toward a greater digital convergence across its operations." Ms. Curtis added, "The new system will also add significant measurable efficiencies across the various publishing disciplines it will serve."
"The first Crain publications are slated to go live in late fall 2007, with the remaining publications migrating to the new system through the first quarter of 2008," said John Harrison, VP of Sales & Marketing for MerlinOne. "What is especially critical to a digital asset management system of this size, with so many users, is reliability. That is why the configuration will use MerlinOne's unique MSync software to create a redundant and fault-tolerant system."
