Michael joined MerlinOne in 2006, bringing his experience designing software applications for Macintosh, Windows, and POSIX-compliant operating systems. Prior to his work at MerlinOne, Michael was an employee of the College of Medicine at the University of Florida. There, he was a key member of the Department of Anesthesiology's Gainesville Anesthesia Simulator team (later known as the "Human Patient Simulator"), which developed an instrumented patient mannequin, a robot capable of responding realistically to medical treatment.

Michael attended the University of Florida where he earned his BS in Computer and Information Sciences. Recently he has been spending his free time exploring software development on the iPhone OS and Android mobile platforms. He is the co-inventor of patent #6,273,728 and enjoys retro-computing, video game design, and woodworking. He lives in Lakewood Ranch, Florida with his wife Carol and their children Sean and Emily.
