Mark has been with MerlinOne as a Systems Engineer since 1999. He has a B.S. in Mathematics. Mark lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he enjoys being outdoors and nature photography.
In the mid 1980s Mark worked on software for the Electronic Picture Desk (EPD) system at Muirhead Systems. That system was about the size of a telephone booth and supported only three users! Through most of the '90s he worked with Andrew and Dale at Crosfield on the PC-based Newsline systems that replaced the EPD.
Prior to all that he was an astronomer at the Royal Greenwich Observatory in Britain, working in the Almanac and Time department for most of that time. In those days DAM stood for "Daylight And Moonlight" diagrams - used by astronomers and the military. Occasionally lawyers too - "my client was blinded by the setting sun and hence neglected to notice the little old lady crossing the road". He also got to point a few telescopes around the sky, including one that bounced lasers off satellites (with the owners' permission of course).
